We lived in Dresden for 9 months.

Hi, I am Eric Muller. My wife and I lived in Dresden from September, 2008 to June, 2009. We lived in a villa in Kleinzschachwitz and worked at the MPI. If you are going to travel to Dresden, poke around my posts and you will discover fantastic places to visit.

We have a place to live.

Guten Tag,
My first Blog entry. Wow. We will be living in Dresden, Germany for 9 months. Trish and I will be doing a sabbatical at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics. We leave September 1, soon after we drop Patrick off at Davidson.

There are so many things to get done before we go. Today we accomplished a very important task. Trish signed a lease! No surprise, the lease was written in German. In fact our landlord and landlady do not speak English. We were lucky and so grateful that Carolyn, from the Institute, was able to do all the negotiations. We have 3.5 furnished rooms on the second floor of an old restored villa. Our house was part of a complex built for the famous Dresden opera singer Therese Malten. Her main house rents rooms as a bed and breakfast. There is a link in the link section.

Just so you know, they still have rooms available for Christmas.

The area is gorgeous. We will be living in a quiet part of Dresden, Kleinschachwitz, away from the center of the city. As long as it is not snowing we plan to bike to work along the bike path that runs along the Elbe river. We estimate an 8 km trip.

This is my first blog. I will use it to keep you posted of our plans and travels. I hope to post short notes regularly. We'll see how it works.

Looks good daddio. Wish there were more pictures of the inside of your place! I couldn't find any on that link.

If you go to the bed and breakfast link, I think our place is in the background. Unfortunately those are all the pictures we have for now.

Congrats. It looks like you've found a good place to stay. CJ was hoping to go and visit during her fall break in the begining of October. She has been taking High School German for two years so it would fit well. You should send her a link to your blog. -devangel585@aol.com
