We lived in Dresden for 9 months.

Hi, I am Eric Muller. My wife and I lived in Dresden from September, 2008 to June, 2009. We lived in a villa in Kleinzschachwitz and worked at the MPI. If you are going to travel to Dresden, poke around my posts and you will discover fantastic places to visit.

Dance and Dinner

We had a wonderful night out with friends and their delightful, smart, mature and talented 15 year old daughter. We attended a William Forsythe dance called The Defenders at the The European Center for the Arts in Hellerau (Das Europäische Zentrum der Künste Hellerau). Wow, were we advant-garde. The audience sat on the floor along a wall, while the dancers performed under this enormous white block (approx. 100 ft x 300 ft x 4 ft). The block was suspended from the ceiling about 3 feet off the floor. They performed on a red carpet, with the impression of people trapped in the small space between heaven and hell. Yes, kinda odd.
After we went to this fantastic restaurant, Schmidts. I had a grilled halibut on a bed of couscous/mushroom stuffing under a hard shell pastry. The presentation gave the appearance of a baby in a bassinet, with the hailbut the blanket. Wow, was it good. The wine I had was one of the major controversies of the night. It was a Muller-Thurgau from the Schloss Proschwitz Prinz zur Lippe. The dry, nutty flavor appealed to me, while the rest of the table thought that the grape should be put in the category of a weed and expunged from the planet.

Great night.
