In German, essen is the verb for eat. And how appropriate, since our essence starts with what we eat. Tonight I am mushrooms and fried pineapple. Tonight we went out to dinner. It was a very funny meal. I thought I ordered pork on a bed of mushrooms, with mashed potatoes. Instead I just got a bowl full of mushrooms, with a fried mashed potatoes. Do you know how hard it is to get a vegetarian meal in Germany? They love their meat. Meat is everywhere. Indeed, there are two shops we see everywhere, the bakerei, and the fleischerei. Anyway, I managed to get a vegetarian meal. Yummy I must say, but I never had so many mushrooms in one sitting. I thought I would salvage the meal with dessert. I thought I ordered a banana split with caramel topping. Instead, I got caramelized fried pineapple and grapes ( with a hint of chili) and a scoop of lemon sorbet. It was yummy.
So I eat whatever I am served and love every morsel. This is the way to live.

Dave and I are having the same eating experiences here on the other side of Germany. Just when you think you have it down we eat a meal in the Netherlands which has the menu in Dutch so the process starts all over again:) When you get a chance email me with you address and phone number. We definately plan on visiting you soon.
