We lived in Dresden for 9 months.
Hi, I am Eric Muller. My wife and I lived in Dresden from September, 2008 to June, 2009. We lived in a villa in Kleinzschachwitz and worked at the MPI. If you are going to travel to Dresden, poke around my posts and you will discover fantastic places to visit.

Pilnitz Apfelfest
After our marathon shopping we relaxed by hopping over the river to an apple fest. It was held at the Julius Kühn Institute. They have a collection of apples with varieties that date back to the 1200s. We tasted an apple that was from 1600, the Purpurroter Cousinot, bred in Deutschland. We also had an apple that Ben Franklin would have tasted, the Baldwin, bred in the USA in 1740. They had the largest collection of apples we had ever seen, and one could taste them, just for the asking. The small "Fest" was about apple cultivation.
After the Fest we walked along the Elbe to the Schloss Pilnitz. There are some beautiful pictures of the grounds. While we were there one of the steam powered paddle boats tooted as it went by us.
