We lived in Dresden for 9 months.

Hi, I am Eric Muller. My wife and I lived in Dresden from September, 2008 to June, 2009. We lived in a villa in Kleinzschachwitz and worked at the MPI. If you are going to travel to Dresden, poke around my posts and you will discover fantastic places to visit.

Radebeul Continued - Eats

Great wine, fun entertainment and interesting food. Most of the people were eating flat breads with toppings. Our flat bread was cooked by people wearing costumes from out of a Bruegel painting. I had pepperoni pizza, Middle Ages style.

Like everywhere we have been in Dresden, the ice cream was great. It is hard to tell in the picture, but there is a mango swirl mysteriously wrapped around the edges.

Finally we had this amazing pastry that was cooked over a wood fire on a spit. It was called Baum kuchen, or tree cake. It was taken off the spit and then cut like a log into pieces, with a hole running through the middle. Like a tree there were rings, or layers of cake. Between each layer there was something like a streusel. The cake was not very sweet, dense but not in a heavy way. Hard to describe, but so yummy.
