We lived in Dresden for 9 months.
Hi, I am Eric Muller. My wife and I lived in Dresden from September, 2008 to June, 2009. We lived in a villa in Kleinzschachwitz and worked at the MPI. If you are going to travel to Dresden, poke around my posts and you will discover fantastic places to visit.

Schloss Pillnitz
My brother, his wife and youngest daughter are visiting, so the blog will be short on text. I need to get some sleep.
On the second day of their visit we went to Schloss Pilnitz, took a steam paddle boat up the Elbe to Blasewitz, walked over the Blaues Wunder, went up the hill on the world's oldest suspension railway, and finished the day at Schillergarten for dinner.
Today's pictures show us heading out from our villa and taking the ferry over the Elbe to Pillnitz. At Schloss Pillnitz we toured the museum section of the castle. I show some pictures of the royal sanctuary, dedicated to the virgin Mary, and a picture of a refrigerator and the place where ice was stored. The kitchen was facinating. I could not get any pictures because at this point I was reminded that taking pictures was not allowed. This seemed strange to me, since at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York they let you take pictures of all the masterpieces-as long as no flash is used. But one of my primary goals is to avoid problems with authorities, so I stopped.
Some other day I will describe the history of the palace that the Elector Augustus III declared as his summer residence around 1765.
